Enter, Thieves Household Cleaner!
Using Thieves Household Cleaner is a great first-step to accomplishing all of this…and MORE! Once I learned about this amazing plant-based cleaner and started using it I was hooked. I started sharing what I learned with my friends and family and they started using it too! We have five children all at home, my husband is working from home remotely right now, and we have a dog….you can imagine how I am constantly wiping something up, tossing in loads of laundry, and cleaning up messes. My methods of cleaning have to be SIMPLE. They have to be sustainable for my family to be able to do it as well and help out….and it has to be healthy for us all!
Did you know that commonly purchased store bought cleaning supplies come packed full with TONS of chemicals? I know I don’t have to tell you about the warning labels that come on these products…we’ve all read them. Why would I want to continue using a product that was potentially causing harm to myself and my family(pets!) and the environment? If the warning label says it could cause harm to my skin and lungs, why would I want that residue left behind on all the surfaces we use daily?
I first encourage you to do some of your own research on your favorite go-to cleaners in your home. Look at the labels and check the ingredients. Also, take a minute to look at this article on common household cleaners and their risks. See how your products stack up in their EWG rating here.
But why does it matter what my cleaner has inside of it?
Many products out there contain thousands of harmful ingredients that can disrupt our body’s natural balance. These ingredients can negatively affect our immunity, hormones, and overall health. For instnace, a common ingredient listed on labels is “fragrance.” There is a published list of 2000 acceptable ingredients that can be grouped under “fragrance” wording. The list includes problematic ingredients, including carcinogens. This leads to companies labeling their products on the front as “all natural” when they also contain these harmful ingredients. This is called Greenwashing.
What is Greenwashing? They can put what they want on the front of the label as long as they don’t lie on the back and disclose all the ingredients. So, terms like “Organic” “green” natural” can be misleading. Always check the labels on the back side of your products for the full story. Not falling into the greenwashing trap can save you money!
